Meet Marti

Marti Makuta is the author of the Draw Near devotional series, Scripture-rooted devotionals, and Bible studies designed to help readers know God more deeply through His Word.

After more than thirty years in public education as both a teacher and administrator, Marti retired with a renewed desire to study Scripture, write, and encourage others in their spiritual growth. Her writing is shaped by a simple conviction: when we begin by knowing who God truly is, we learn to trust Him more fully. Through Scripture, thoughtful reflection, and honest response, she hopes to help readers discover the joy of drawing near to God one passage at a time.

When she isn't writing, Marti enjoys hiking, learning to play golf with her husband and sister, spending time in nature, and sharing board games and card games with family and friends. She also has a well-known weakness for chocolate and an enduring appreciation for adorable baby animals of every kind.

She is grateful for God's faithfulness in every season, and she hopes every book she writes helps readers know Him more deeply, trust Him more fully, and discover the joy of drawing near.
