Meet Marti

Marti Makuta is the author of the Draw Near devotional series, Scripture-rooted studies designed to help readers know God more deeply and recognize His faithfulness in everyday life.

After spending more than thirty years serving in public education as both a teacher and administrator, Marti entered retirement with a renewed desire to study Scripture, write, and encourage others in their spiritual growth. Her writing is shaped by a simple belief:
God often reveals Himself in ordinary moments when we slow down, pay attention, and respond with faith.

When she isn't writing, Marti enjoys hiking, learning to play golf with her husband and sister, spending time in nature, and sharing board games and card games with family and friends. She also has a well-known weakness for chocolate and an enduring appreciation for adorable baby animals of every kind.

She lives with gratitude for God's faithfulness and hopes her writing helps others discover it for themselves.
